Carnegie Mellon moved to 3-0 this weekend after defeating Juniata 36-14. The great performance by CMU comes after beating W&J the week before 28-10. Carnegie Mellon is shaping up to be one of the top contenders in the ARU and can qualify for the playoffs next weekend with a win at home versus Robert Morris University.

IUP: Martin, Brandt, Brown, Fisher, Recordon, Marker, Fillman, Eggleston
Pitt: Schott, Wilk, Ruff, D'Antonio
CMU: O'Donnell, Huddock, Leonel, Lee
RMU: Williams
CCAC: Hall"
Congratulations!!!
CMU had another winning weekend, with a victory over WVU. The game was fairly tight in the first half, but CMU's pack began to control play starting early in the second and CMU coasted to a fairly comfortable victory.
Highlights: After three years of play, Frank "the Tank" Marzano scored his first try with a powerful, 20 meter run up the sideline and was rewarded with man of the match honors. Walter King scored a drop goal from 25 meters out.
With decisive wins over W&J, Kenyon, and Juniata, CMU took home a trophy from Pitt City's Coopers Lake Tournament for the second time in four years.
CMU's first game against W&J was the most shaky of the day, with CMU playing down to W&J's level and getting highly penalized. However, CMU quickly got their act together in their next game vs Keyon and continued to play on all cylinders in the championship vs Juniata. CMU outplayed Keyon and Juniata on all levels, dominating play through their aggressive, hard-hitting style.
Exact scores upcoming
This game was highlighted by penalties... 20+ from CMU and 17 in the first half. The second half of the game was much cleaner, with great defense from the forwards and dynamic backline play when given an opportunity.
Highlights: Tim "Hong Kong" Lee scored CMU's only try
Lowlights: Walter King gave up a penalty try with a high tackle
In their first game of the Spring semester, CMU had a good showing against Geneva College. CMU's game was highlighted by superb open-field play. However, the team needs to work on the fundamentals around the breakdowns.
Not having a team between the years of 2000 and 2004, CMU Rugby lost contact with players prior to the 04 season. Through a couple emails and a chance encounter at USA Sevens in San Diego, the two generations have finally come back together. We hope to see many of the alums back over Carnival for our annual alumni game!
CMU Rugby will start their Spring season Saturday, February 28th @ Geneva College. The Spring schedule is marked by some fun events, our first experience with the Select Side, and LOTS of games. Check out the calendar for the full schedule!
After a season of playing with the boys (and kicking ass), Emily Gehrels has been selected to play for the U 23 ARU Women's team. Congrats Em!
This puts CMU up to five players in the select side, in only its first year in the league.
CMU RFC's general body meeting is set for Friday, January 16th at 7:30pm. We will elect officers for next year and go over the spring's game and event schedule. It is critical that all current and possible members attend, as the meeting will give you a good idea what to expect this spring.
For directions contact one of the officers.
